About

BAA was first chartered in 2016 and is an official chapter of the National Alumni Association.  Our focus is to support and increase diversity at the Capstone.  Over the last 5 years, BAA has grown tremendously and we endeavor to keep it going.  We utilize our signature events such as "Houndstooth and Heels: Black Alumni Weekend", "A$AP Scholarship Seminars", "BAMA Connect", The Best D*mn Weekend Alumni Tailgate party to bring together our experienced alumni, recent grads, current students, and future scholars to further these efforts, fundraise and grow our scholarships which defray tuition costs for current minority students at UA. This year we are excited to add two new events to the mix: the Inaugural Malone Awards and our Golf Classic.

BAA’s philanthropic work supports five minority preference scholarships under our umbrella:

  • Pollie Anne Myers-Pinkins AAAN Endowed Scholarship

  • Jordan J. Edwards Memorial Endowed Scholarship

  • Boykin F. Hunter-Dave McGlathery Endowed Scholarship

  • Jennica Kimberly Mancarella Endowed Scholarship

  • Dianne Kirksey Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Our efforts work to inspire achievement and continued commitment to the University.
